The Great Lakes Youth Center, located in Forrestal Village offers before and after school age care (SAC) summer and holiday day camps. Youth programing and teen programming including, open recreation, youth and teen day trips and special events are also offered. SAC, youth, and teen programs are affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club of America and 4H. Great Lakes Great Lakes Youth Center also offers youth sports and fitness programs along with instructional and recreational classes and programs.
School Age Care Program
School Age Care program (SAC) provides a fun environment, while offering a wide variety of developmentally age appropriate activities before and after school for children in grades K-7th grade. The programs are designed to enhance rather than duplicate the school day, are affiliated with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) and offer 4-H programs. Scheduled developmentally appropriate activities in core program areas and technology are planned based on knowledge of youth development and needs and interests of the children enrolled. Navy SAC programs are DoD certified and nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA).
Hourly Care is offered to parents who may need occasional care for appointments. (Openings are based on space availability.)
Eligibility: Active Duty, reservists on active duty attached to NS Great Lakes and DOD Employees employed by Naval Station Great Lakes.
Youth and Teen Program
The Youth and Teen program offers various activities for youth ages 9-18 yrs old. We offer activies and clubs every month that help youth enhance their skills and knowledge in various areas: Character & Leadership, Health & Lifeskills, Arts, Sports & Recreation, and Education & Career Development.

Youth Sports and Fitness
Navy Youth Sports and Fitness Programs encourage youth participation in sports and fitness activities by providing opportunities for fun and age-appropriately support the developmental level of children and help them feel successful and find physical activities that they can enjoy through the understanding, equity and diversity of the programs and services, which will assist military personnel in balancing the competing demands of family life and contributing to mission accomplishment. Navy Youth Sports and Fitness Program include five core area. These core areas include Sports, Fitness, Health and Nutrition, Outdoor Recreation, and Motor Skills Development.
The Navy YSF program strives to instill the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty and a sense of teamwork so that children, youth and teens will become strong, healthy, well-adjusted and contributing members of society. The YSF Program works in partnership with parents, volunteers and community organizations to provide a full range of fitness and sports activities.
