MWR & NEX Say “THANKS”!
The Naval Station Great Lakes; Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department and the Navy Exchange (NEX) are recognizing and celebrating their customers from Sept. 17 to 21. Although MWR/NEX appreciates their customers year round, this week is specifically focused on them, and to say "THANKS." Incredible specials will be happening throughout the week at all major MWR/NEX facilities!
Customers are encouraged to stop by MWR/NEX facilities each and every day from Sept. 17 to 21 to receive a special scratch-off card, which are all guaranteed winners (while supplies last). These scratch-off cards offer customers tens of thousands of dollars of MWR and NEX discounts and freebies. Plus, one lucky winner will receive a grand prize of a round-trip airline ticket, anywhere in the continental U.S.
Throughout the week, customers are also invited to enjoy a series of entertaining and memorable "Appreciation" activities, as well as the following free, highlighted special events. The Liberty program’s ‘Great 80’s Dance Revival’ at the Epicenter (Bldg. 525), will feature cosmic bowling, a movie theater showing of ‘Ferris Bueller's Day Off’ at 5 p.m., a throwback photo booth and 80’s trivia challenges. Plus, the 80’s tribute band, ‘The Breakfast Club’, will take the stage at 7 p.m. in the Live@525 room (E1-E6 only)-Tues., Sept. 18 from 5 to 9 p.m. The Taste of Great Lakes at the Port O’ Call (Bldg. 140), will feature an all hands, free food expo, where customers may sample a variety of food and beverages (plus beer and wine tastings-ages 21 and over) from over eight different vendors. Also, there will be live entertainment, information booths from area attractions and on-base colleges and exciting door prizes-Wed., Sept. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. Concluding the week, the Family Fun Night & No Dough Dinner at the Great Lakes Youth Center (Bldg. 8190), will feature a free dinner and dessert from Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, live children’s musical entertainment (Jeanie B! ‘Keep on Rockin’), life-size games and fun activities-Fri., Sept. 21 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. These are just some of the many events and promotions going on all week long.
