EPIC Back-To-School Giveaway

Mark your calendar now and plan to join us on July 28 from 3:30-5pm (or while supplies last) for MWR's 2nd Annual Back-To-School Giveaway outside the Great Lakes Youth Center (Community Center)! This year's giveaway is BIGGER and BETTER than last year. We have more than double the back packs and giveaways! Bring your kids. so they can get their backpack and school supply pack. Families are invited to stay for the live music, free ice cream, Disney books, Genesee Theatre tickets, mini-golf vouchers, Chicago Wolves home opener tickets and so much more! NSGL Combine Competition

Thurs., July 7 | 4-6pm | Constitution Field

• Register at the 2A Fitness Center by Tues., July 5.
• Max 50 participants (walk-ins welcome, if space allows).
• Open to all eligible MWR patrons.

The NSGL Combine is a fitness competition that challenges your strength and stamina. It is composed of two events: the Fit Pit Workout and the Obstacle Course. The Fit Pit Workout will test your strength, and the obstacle course will test your stamina. There will be two divisions: men and women. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each division. To be eligible for awards, participants must compete in both events. No Navy endorsement implied.

Gym 440 Mountain Bike Rental Program

Did you know that you can rent a mountain bike from the Marina AND Gym 440? There are great bike paths located just off base. Take advantage of the beautiful summer weather and get outside today! It's only $12 for 24 hours or $20 for 48 hours.

Pool & Beach News

The indoor swimming pool at B440 and swimming in Lake Michigan are closed due to no lifeguards on the staff. Nunn Beach is open from sunrise to sunset, for recreational use only. There is a nationwide lifeguard shortage. If you are a certified lifeguard or know a certified lifeguard looking for part-time work, please contact MWR.
