Separating from the military is a major life change. Planning and preparing for that change is best when started early. The Pre-Separation Seminar provides information that will help you make educated decisions, submit all required TGPS paperwork and make plans for you and your family to transition successfully to this new chapter in your life. At the Pre-Separation Seminar you will receive services and hear from representatives of DAV and AMVETS (bring your medical records), Personnel Support Detachment, Tricare, Personal Property Office, and other healthcare considerations. You will receive an in-depth GI Bill Brief from the IL State Approving Agency, the required Reserve Orientation Brief (for separations personnel), and the pre-separation counseling with the DoDtap DD2648. You may attend the pre-separation seminar up to 2 years before retirement and 1 year if you are separating. The Pre-Separation Seminar is held twice a month at the Life Long Learning Center building 617, room 108. See the Transition GPS workshops schedule at http://go.usa.gov/5Czh for class dates, and contact your Command Career Counselor to get started. For questions contact the Fleet and Family Support Center at (847) 688-2412 ext. 213 or 204. Please call for training and location details.
