The basic sailing class consists of two evenings of classroom instruction, as well as land drills and one all-day practical on-the-water lesson. The course will be instructed on the American 146 Day Sailor and the Rhodes 19’ sailboat.
This Mate A instruction will include elements of boating safety, parts of the boat, knot tying, sails and sailing theory. Practical instruction will include sailing all points of sail, leaving and returning to the dock, man overboard and capsize recovery.
A U.S. Sailing Small Boat Sailing Certification will be issued after successful completion of the course. Classes begin on Thursday 6-9pm, Friday 6-9pm, Saturdays 9-3pm and Sundays 9-12 are built in weather backup days.
